New Spinners and Sliders
No More "Pre-Order" Updates
The various pre-orders I've run (and been late on) over the last few months are now ALL finally shipped.
I'm likely not going to do pre-orders anytime soon (unless it's a product I've very familiar with and not something new).
The "Claw" 3-Click Slider
I've just done a short run of a new slider I'm calling the "Claw".
It may not have a full 'x-factor' - but there is certainly something to it.
Also, weirdly (or actually not so weirdly when I think about it), both the Titanium and Zirconium versions have a very solid click to them when fidgeting. A much louder click than I would have expected.
New Spinner
It's been many years since I made spinners. I designed a number of them back in 2017 ...but I still worked with a CNC machinist to bring my ideas to life.
Since then I've learned CNC machining and so this is the first time I've made a spinner in-house. It's great to have control over every part of the process and make tweaks quickly and easily.
Here's a little behind-the-scenes on a still-to-be-named spinner - it's a shot of two prototypes just finished the first machining operation:
As of earlier today I've made 11 of these in total. Tested each one individually and the balance is very, VERY good on every one.
I'll talk more about the bearing retention system soon - but, in the meantime, here's a video of it in action (it's not been tumbled and is raw finished):
I will almost certainly change the buttons on the above - they are from another spinner design and a bit too angular for the shape of this spinner.
Life and Quotes
Here's my quote of the day for you:
“My tastes are simple: I am easily satisfied with the best.”
– Winston S. Churchill
Really interested in the fidget spinner. Curious the approx cost…?
