What Is "M.C.D." (Magnus Custom Division)?
"M.C.D." is short for Magnus Custom Division.
These are sliders that are pretty much one-off customs (some more customs than others). A very high mix of different designs and finishes (and matching plate designs).
M.C.D. is for experimenting and trying new things.
IMPORTANT #1: M.C.D. slider designs have almost no standardization. A new, specific slider will have it's own plates ...and getting replacement plates in the future is not really a thing (so please keep this in mind). Minor functional "issues" will be a thing here and there (For example: a specific slider might have a rattle in a certain position ...because those specific plates have never been made before). The quality control and surface finish, however, will still be taken to our usual impossibly high standards!
IMPORTANT #2: Screws, magnet layout (equidistant) and Magnet Strength (N42 or N45 for lighter sliders and N48 or N52 for heavier sliders) are fairly standard.
M.C.D. is aimed at people who are curious and a bit more on the "die-hard-raving-fan" end of the spectrum.
Quantities:
Some sliders might be made in, say, a small run of 20 (but these will have different patterns and finished ...so no two will be the same). You will also find super-short runs of 8 or 4 (again, each one unique). And, of course, there will some where there is just ONE (which, of course, will carry a higher price because of the work required just for that single slider). Once I have finished a particular run -- whether it's one slider or twenty sliders -- I have no plans to ever make that particular design again.
Naming and Numbering:
Here's is a typical number and name for an M.C.D. sliders... MCD001-1 "Banker"
MCD | 001 | -1 | "Banker"
MCD = Stands for "Magnus Custom Division"
001 = Designates a new slider design (i.e. 001, 002, 003, etc.)
-1 = Variations on a particular design (i.e. 1, 2, 3, etc.)
"Banker" = I like to name things - even if it's a one-off (i.e. "Banker", "Racoon", "Big Boy", etc.)
One last thing...
I recommend you don't buy one of these as your first slider from me (you're better off buying one of my tried-and-tested sliders).
While M.C.D. will be a bit more fast-paced, high-mix and fairly experimental ...I also ask that you allow a little more flexibility in how they perform (and perhaps don't hold them to quite the same high performance level as our core range that have been relentlessly tried and tested).
