SlideClicks *LIVE*, Zirc Supply, Titanium Pens and Sliders (Blog Post)

Another (Quick) Shop Tour (Assembly + Shipping)

Below is a super-short tour of the Assembly and Shipping area.

I know I did a tour of this area recently ...but I think it's such a cool area. We designed and built the entire modular system in-house ourselves.

Zirconium Supply

I recently (well, two days ago) increased the price of sliders with Zirconium used in them.

This is unavoidable unfortunately because I am having to source raw Zirconium material from other suppliers than I have been able to use for the last few years.

China is the world's biggest supplier of Titanium (and Zirconium as far as I am aware). I can still get access to Titanium ...but Zirconium from China is now not happening at all. It seems to be a ban on the export at the government level as far as I can tell.

I am struggling -- but still trying -- to source Zirconium from other parts of the world. Managing to get pieces here and there.

However, when I do find some, it is a MINIMUM of 2.5 times the price and usually more.

This means I either stop selling Zirconium entirely ...or I raise the price. I have opted to raise the price ...and let people decide themselves if they are happy to pay what the price needs to be for a product with Zirconium in it.

SlideClick (Utility Blade Knife)

It's FINALLY here!

The long-awaited, all-titanium, hands-down-best-on-the-market Titanium Utility Blade knife -- the SlideClick -- is back in stock.

I have made a few dozen and put them up in on the website here:

Pretty confident they are going to sell out reasonably quickly. If you miss out, then I will make more. :-)

Sliders and Pens Available (Today)

I have a few sliders available with Zirconium plates . I only have a few here and there ...but hoping to increase the quantity available over time (but time will tell with Zirconium so hard to source right now).

  • I understand where Dan is coming from on the replacement parts issue. I have the same problem and often end up buying sliders as donors if their plates look good.

We all know and understand that you shouldn’t have to work on things that no longer interest you, but as customers and people who LOVE your creations we want them to live on! Is there a way to make that happen?
Investing in a dedicated “old hardware” machine?
Licensing agreement? Having a buddy with a job shop do periodic runs?
Maybe even designing adapters so the new plates fit old models?? Then its keeping things alive AND innovative. :)

  • After buying 6 sliders from this site over the years. I think its over for me. The drops are absolutely ridiculous. They sell out almost immediately.

But the truly worst part is all these never ending experimentation has left the site with zero support for sliders that are not even 1 year old.

I bought the “new” sliders with the muffin tin plates. And they got messed over a few months. When I emailed support for parts I was told none are available. And maybe check in 2 months. 2 months long passed and nothing.

Have fun running what now feels like an auction house. You lost a long time customer.

  • Would you consider doing a video of the people that work with you so we can meet them. We all appreciate everything they do from conception, completion, and shipping of our products….thanks

  • Glad you are making a lefty Slide Click in the future (and hopefully a lefty pen). Gear Infusion already makes a product like this for righties and lefties. Interested in buying a lefty Slide Click to see if it really is the best!
