NEW Slider LAUNCH and "Behind The Scenes"

What's been happening?

It's been quite some time since that last time I wrote a blog post.

While there is no specific reason for not doing one ...we have been crazy-busy trying to keep producing sliders and pens (because they keep selling).

Typically I would do a blog post to give a bit of a general update on what is going on here at Magnus ...and, quite often, shamelessly promote something new.

And, today, we have both of those things! :-)

What's new? (...in Slider making)

In terms of sliders... we have moved away from o-rings to keep the magnets secured. And, instead, we now use Silicone Balls in all the sliders. There are a few reasons for this - but the main reason is the magnets are secured much better (less likely the magnets will rattle or move around).

What's new? (...in Slider DESIGNS)

As always... we've been coming up with lots of new, never-been-done-before designs (more than any other Maker would dare to do at least :-D).
I have not been promoting these because, currently, they keep selling (usually within seconds) without any promotion ...so there is no point adding more fuel to that fire.

Now, here's the thing:

I used to do "big launches" of new designs in the past -- in the good ol' days -- but have not been doing that recently because it's been hard enough just keeping up with the sales of new designs.

However, today, I would like to go back to trying out a launch of a particular new slider - and I'll talk about it now...

NEW Slider ("Big Launch" ...sort of)

As I mentioned above...

I used to do "Big Launches" for new designs - and kind of moved away from that.

But I have specifically made a couple of dozen of this new design so I can drop them all in one go. So, while not a big launch, I'm still giving you a heads-up here. :-)

While this new slider may not look special - it's a little bit "out there".

Take a look at this:
I call the above slider the "Shell" ...and, as you can see in the video, we have CNC machined almost all of it away.

The result?

One of the lightest sliders we have ever made. It looks "chunky" ...but, together with the new "slotted" plates, it weighs just 33 grams!

Not only that...

The space inside this slider body -- together with these new plates -- has resulted in this slider producing a loud "POP" (as opposed to the typical "click"). The sound does not come through well in video - but, in real life, it's pretty loud.

Here's the launch page you want to keep an eye on for the new "Shell" slider:
(They are launching around 29 hours from when I sent out the email about this blog post.)

Magnus "Behind The Scenes"

I know it has nothing do do with sliders or pens or such, but...

I'd like to show you a little "behind the scenes" of our new Assembly, Quality Control, Packing and Shipping area.

It might not look like much, but it has take a hours upon hours of discussion and back-and-forth the get the design and layout optimized.

The result is a very effective and efficient workflow.

Here's the thing though:

It's not just us here at Magnus that this type of improvement benefits. It has very REAL benefits to everyone ...and that's because it helps with our Quality Control system, better photos for showcasing products, reduced risk of shipping the wrong item, quicker shipping when an order comes in ...and a bunch more things!

  • Love to see the behind-the-scenes! I’m geeking out over the racking system you created and just the whole QC/prep flow. Nicely done!

  • How much of what you produce you you plan on being new designs versus prior designs?
