Two things:

#1 - The core of these magnets are Neodymium (also known as "rare earth" magnets).

I use these because they are powerful and have a smooth surface finish (so you are unlikely to scratch your fridge, whiteboard or toolbox).

#2 - The 10mm size I have selected is a balance between being powerful enough to hold a stack of papers to your fridge ...but not so powerful that they are frustrating (or even dangerous) to use.

I've been using the first prototypes for a little while and honestly they've been working just as I had hoped.

The main body of the TiMags™ are titanium.

There are a few reasons for this:

Firstly, titanium is what we do! (But that alone is not a good reason if I'm being totally honest.)

Secondly, titanium is light ...and so there is no additional weight of, say, steel to reduce effective power of the magnet core.

Thirdly, titanium will not rust ...which is very useful since I know a lot of people will use these in a workshop type environment (including me).

There are two reasons behind this design:

#1 - The top part provides you with a large area to hold onto.

and

#2 - The narrow lower part allows you to "roll" the magnet to the side when you want to remove it from something (and, honestly, you need to do this because the magnets are a little too powerful to easily just pull them off vertically!).

Oh, and to ensure you have a solid grip on the TiMags™ when you hold them I've machined in a finger-groove around the top part.A small detail for sure - but it really works!

The TiMags™ receive our now famous Matte surface finish.

We have perfected this over the years (particularly with products which are to be used in the hand ...such as pens, tweezers, etc.).

These magnets are powerful. And, without getting too dramatic, you really do need to be careful with them.

So here's what I've done:

The TiMags™ come in an aluminium canister with end-caps (firmly secured with o-rings).

We machine these canisters ourselves to custom-fit the TiMags™.
